A friend of mine recently posted an article on facebook about the stress throwing birthday parties can cause for moms. Thanks to Pinterest, crafting boards, blogs, and other various media outlets creating the *perfect* birthday party has become just one more thing moms have to do right. Well in an effort to NOT conform to a life of Pinterest pressure (I still haven't even become a member of this time sucking platform yet), we had a old fashioned, simple birthday event this year. With just a few friends, family, good food and of course cake, my girl went to bed with a smile on her face and I was pretty much stress free. Take a peek into some of the fun...
Birthday tradition at our house allows the birthday kid and 1 or 2 friends to head off and do something fun around town. Addison's choice? Swimming at the Kroc. Since we've only had about a week of real swimming weather here in Michigan this year, I was happy to oblige.
After an uncountable amount of times down the water slide, we headed home where we were joined by friends and family for home made pizza...
...and soccer cake.
Throw in a few presents, and voila - a perfectly low key birthday celebration! (Now that's one for the boards... ;)
